Egghead Arc Episodes

The Egghead Arc is the 70-episode opening arc of the Final Saga, running from January 2024 to early 2026. What Happens in the Egghead Arc

Following the Onigashima victory in Wano, the Straw Hat Pirates arrive at Egghead Island — Dr. Vegapunk's futuristic laboratory, a setting that visually breaks from every previous arc in the series. Egghead is technologically centuries ahead of the rest of the One Piece world, with hovering vehicles, robotic infrastructure, and an artificial sun maintained by Vegapunk himself. The Straw Hats arrive looking for medical help for Bonney's father; they leave at the center of the World Government's largest direct intervention in the entire series.

The arc's central character is Dr. Vegapunk, the world's most brilliant scientist and a former World Government researcher. Egghead establishes that Vegapunk has split his consciousness into six satellites — Shaka (Logic), Lilith (Evil), Edison (Inventor), Pythagoras (Wisdom), Atlas (Violence), and York (Greed) — each a separate body sharing the original Vegapunk's mind. Their interactions provide much of the arc's character drama, and the arc's central betrayal pivots on which satellite has been compromised.

The conflict escalates when the Five Elders — the highest-ranking members of the World Government, previously seen only in distant council scenes — arrive at Egghead in person to silence Vegapunk before he can broadcast his accumulated research to the world. Their physical capabilities, revealed for the first time on screen, are the arc's biggest lore drop: each Elder is a Mythical Zoan user, and their combat power exceeds nearly every Marine and Yonko shown to that point. Saint Saturn in particular emerges as a major recurring antagonist into the Elbaph Arc that follows.

The arc closes with a multi-front escape sequence — the Straw Hats and their allies fleeing Egghead while Vegapunk completes his world-broadcast message. The broadcast itself, delivered in the arc's final episodes, is one of the most consequential lore drops in the series: it reveals significant context about the Void Century, the existence of an ancient kingdom, and the true nature of the World Government's founding. Egghead ends with the Straw Hats setting course for Elbaph, the long-rumored island of giants, and the Final Saga's next chapter.
